Hi Lệ Vũ. I have a question that I’ve kept it to myself for many years. Now I want to ask you for advice. I am 19 and I will graduate from High School, whether I want to pursue my dream for college or to follow God’s call. Right now I have a strong feeling that God is calling me, but I haven’t answered him yet. I want to spend this summer to find out whether God will choose me for his disciple pr not. Since I was small, I always wanted to help the sick people. I think that being a nun or a missionary will give me more time to care for the poor and lepers than being a married woman. Could you give me more information about all the Vietnamese convents serving the poor all over the world like Vietnam, China, Asia, India, Cambodia, and Somalia.
I want to ask one of the priests in my parish, but I am too embarassed to ask them. One priest told me that if I wanted to be a nun, I should go to American convents. They offer me more opportunities to continue with college. But I prefer Vietnamese convents because I love to sing in Vietnamese. Do you have any information about the Vietnamese convents that wear long, black or dark green/blue uniforms? Don’t laugh at me if I ask about their uniforms. The reason I ask is that black or dark colors look cleaner when I have to kneel down or to clean something. If you know about those convents, please give me their addresses, phone numbers, and e-mail address too. Thank yoy for your time.

I think that you can pursue your dream for college and follow God’s call at the same time. Why not? To me, whatever the field you choose for your future, education is always needed. Ngay trong các báo Công giáo như Dân Chúa, Trái Tim Đức Mẹ, hay Đức Mẹ Hằng Cứu Giúp v.v. hàng tháng đều có đăng quảng cáo rất nhiều dòng nữ Việt Nam tại hải ngoại. Các dòng đều tìm kiếm nhiều ơn gọi. Em chịu khó mở báo ra đọc, liên lạc với các sơ Phụ Trách Ơn Gọi các dòng để biết thêm nhiều chi tiết cần thiết, giúp em dễ dàng lựa chọn.
Ngoài ra, mỗi nhà dòng đều có dành thời gian thử cho các tuyển sinh có cơ hội tìm hiểu nhà dòng và ơn gọi của mình, xem có hợp hay không. Lệ Vũ đề nghị, trước khi quyết định, Leland Nguyen nên đến thử và tìm hiểu vài nhà dòng xem sao. Summer is a good time to do it. Don’t wait!
